Light'em up Empty Light'em up

Post  Luxanna Crownguard Fri Nov 11, 2011 7:54 pm

Name: Luxanna "Lux" Crownguard
Canon/original?: League of Legends
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Cult?: No.
Are you bringing a location? (explain/describe):

Lux was in the shopping district, playing White on the large chess set in the center of the district. One of those deals with the two foot pawns and even taller everything else. And, of course, Lux was winning.

Her opponent was a random passerby who was wanting a game, and since Lux wasn't too busy, she decided to grant him a game. As usual, a minor crowd appeared around the chess set once the game began. Though the man hadn't lost too many more pieces, he was gradually opening up a larger and larger inescapable situation. And Lux was about to capitalize.

The man had made the mistake of not moving his king. He had moved the queen, bishop, knight, AND castle along one side, and had only moved the knight-fronted pawn from that row. This created a path behind the wall of pawns, with no units to counter, leading straight to a king that had nowhere to run.

The man smiled wide as he saw a good move. He grabbed a bishop, and walked it across the board, taking Lux's queen. The crowd exchanged unsure noises. Lux smiled at the move, giving the man a nod, and in response, moved a castle over to just in front of her pawns, lining it up to enter through the hole into the path to kill the king.

She looked at the man, seeing if he saw her strategy. It wasn't her best strategy, really. It was pretty obvious. But the man didn't seem to catch it. He was apparently too busy trying to secure a checkmate. Lux looked at the board. Hm... there was a danger of a checkmate. The man would have to move his knight and bishop, but he had to close off avenues of escape before going for a check. If he checked now, Lux would move the king from danger altogether. And this meant the man couldn't interrupt Lux's castle by forcing her to save her king.

The man moved his knight into position, closing off Lux's avenue of escape. Perfect.

Without hesitation, Lux moved her castle up across the board, passing through the row of pawns and entering the back row. The king had absolutely no means of escape.

"Checkmate." Lux said, with a smile.

The man looked at the move, surprised, as the crowd more or less politely applauded. The man looked at Lux, and gave a look of resignation. Lux smiled apologetically.

"That was good, don't feel bad." She said, patting his arm.

Suddenly, Lux began to glow yellow. The crowd hushed, knowing what this was. Lux looked herself over, and nodded.

"Looks like a League match is starting." Lux said. "Bye~!"

And Lux was teleported away. But to her surprise, she didn't wind up in any League arena. It didn't look like any arena at all. There were shops, houses, and people. What was this place?
